Oldest icon -  - Blurry, weird text placement, the icon seems to be about Anya's forehead more than anything else, gratuitous stroking

What's not so bad - unconventional size, appropriate lyrics

Newest icon -  - layers, texture, sharpness (yeah!), I really love this one - made for [livejournal.com profile] cultfilm_icons , do not take please

Icon I'm currently proudest of -

Whoa! How did you manage to get something with normal fleshtones out of that?

::not really expecting detailed answer, just expressing depth of wonderment::

I'm handicapped knowing where to begin, as I don't even really know what the tools are that are available and how each affects things. I suppose there's naught to do but sit down with the computer all summer and make up test images that show me how things work.

But you could remind me how to get outlines around text; seems I've forgotten that too...

LOL. The flesh tones took some doing, believe me. I think I spent, in total, 2 hours on the icon. I just really badly wanted to do this cap, because it's one of the few moments in the film where everything slows down and we're given a reason to really care about Lola and Manni. Besides which, I love their expression.

As to the stroke around the words... What program are you using? In Photoshop it's Layer>Layer Style>Stroke. And be sure to ALWAYS turn down the size of the stroke to 1px. At the bottom there will be red box, click on the box and you will be able to choose a new color.

If you're using Paintshop, I don't know because I no longer have Paintshop loaded :( You may be able to google it though

PhotoShop CS, and thanks very much. I just could not remember how to do that after an entire school year of working with PageMaker and all its idiosyncracies instead.
