Dec. 25th, 2006 05:31 pmI hope my whole f-list has a very Happy Christmas (Happy because I'm seekritly snooty and British) and gets what they very most hoped for.
Me and the Mr. were supposed to be in San Diego on Thursday night. Instead we are stuck here in the aftermath of the biggest blizzard since, if the rambly woman down the street is any expert, 1982. The snow started Wednesday, I barely made it home and the car was stuck halfway up the driveway. The Mr. barely made it into the neighborhood and got his car totally stuck in a snow drift and had to hike over to the house.
We were not able to dig ourselves out enough to pull my car forward until Friday, and the other car was not freed until Saturday. We were able to leave the house for the first time on Saturday. We went out to eat LOL. There was no way I was cooking again :P
Thankfully, we were able to reschedule our flight because DIA was shut down and all flights cancelled for 45 hours. So we will be going to SD for New Year's. Which I am very happy about, because I really, really miss my family. I was extremely depressed when I thought we'd have to cancel altogether.

We went to see a movie yesterday, "The Holiday." It stars Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, and Jude Law. The first two people on the list I LOVE, the second two I couldn't care less about. So that was a little weird. Premise - Cam and Kate's characters exchange houses after painful episodes with their "boyfriends." Then each find themselves and, of course since this is a Hollywood movie, new love in their holiday country.
It was painful to watch Cameron Diaz on the screen. She was over-acting like crazy -- think of her performance, and I use that term loosely, in Charlie's Angels and then remove it from the ironic tone of that movie. Place it into a light romantic comedy where she's playing off people that can actually act. Yeah, that bad.
Kate Winslet and Jack Black were awesome as always. Because I have as wide and varied a taste in men as it possible to have, I find Jack Black very attractive, in the common parlance, I'd hit that. So I totally bought him as a romantic lead. He was funny, charming, and really dialed down his Jack Black-ness to hit into this movie.
The story barely mattered, it was really the character's finding each other... It was light and trivial and fun. Both the Mr. and I really enjoyed it.
